GK started its design practice in 1952 primarily in industrial design.For the last 50 years, GK has strived to refine its professional design capability and to develop comprehensive design services, while at the same time seeking new avenues in response to changing times.To date, GK has realized success in many design areas from industrial design, urban and environmental design, to graphic design.GK has grown to encompass twelve companies in fifteen offices both domestic and abroad, with locations in Tokyo, Kyoto, Hiroshima, Los Angeles, Amsterdam and many other major cities.

In cooperation and at the request of Haier Group, in 1994 GK established the Qingdao Haigao Design and Manufacturing Co., Ltd., in the city of Qingdao, China. The office currently serves as consultant on consolidated design for Haier Group, as well as being a spearhead for expanding its design service for businesses and urban environmental development in select areas of China.

Shanghai is the powerful economic and cultural epicenter of modern China, increasingly taking a central role in global economic development; it is also expected to become the center of design, and thus a source of a new global design trends. It is in this milieu that GK Design Group established GK Design Shanghai, Inc.The objective of GK Shanghai is to deepen and broaden the exchange of culture and ideas between China and Japan, mutually contribute new vitality to the world’s industry and economy, and cultivate a new life culture.
